It makes use of a relatively early Gamme number and uses a Nicole Freres-stamped comb of an earlier age. The tune sheet is Brun's one with the 'world' trademark. As in keeping with boxes from this period, the case is London made and was possibly even assembled in London from all the remains of the stock-in-trade shipped over from Geneva. It plays four airs, Verdi, Donizetti and Meyerbeer, with one comb and a lever winding mechanism.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Nicole","id":"AUTH335963"},"association":{"text":"makers","id":"AAT251917"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"wood","id":"AAT11914"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"","categories":[{"text":"Musical instruments","id":"THES48919"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"FWK","id":"THES48597"},"images":["2014GW5414","2014GW5415"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"006","id":"THES379886"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Cylinder musical box","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"possibly"}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1890-1902","earliest":"1885-01-01","latest":"1902-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Purchase made possible through the gift of an anonymous benefactor.","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Because of the late serial no. and the Gamme no., it is possible that the box and its cylinder were made in London. ca. 1890.
