Sir Thomas Moyle was the grandfather of Sir Moyle Finch, whose monument is also in the collection, A.186-1969  and the great-grandfather of Sir Heneage Finch, A.184-1969. The names and coats of arms on the tomb are those of Sir Thomas's father and mother, grandfather, grandmother, wife, daughters and daughter's husbands. The stone from which the monument is constructed must have been formerly used in a building, as inside the chest are some quatrefoil decoration, arch-mouldings and part of a window-transom.","physicalDescription":"Monument, Caen stone. Tombchest. The two longer sides of the monument are each divided by four fluted pilasters into five compartments, at either end is a round headed niche, between which are three rounded-headed panels, each with a shield of arms. The shields are carved and the colours are not painted (as was common), but consist of small pieces of inlaid composition, the natural stone being left to represent silver. In some cases, neither the charges, nor the colours, are indicated correctly.
