The shape is an upright rectangle form with a triangular upper section rising to a point. Made of fritware painted under the glaze in blue and black on a white ground. The central field is occupied by six lines of text, written in a poor nasta'liq hand, in black. The first four lines are occupied by a quatrain in Persian, and the last two record the name and date of death of the deceased. In the triangular space above the inscription is a depiction of a spray of flowers and objects owned by the deceased, which include two types of comb, two rings and three pins. The border is filled with designs drawn from Chinese blue-and-white wares, indicating that the stele was produced in a centre in Iran that produced fritware imitations of Chinese porcelain.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"fritware","id":"x29419"}],"techniques":[{"text":"painted","id":"x30138"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Fritware painted under the glaze","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"},{"text":"Tiles","id":"THES48884"}],"styles":[{"text":"Safavid","id":"AAT21712"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"MES","id":"THES48607"},"images":["2006BJ5784","2014GY0377","2014GY0376","2018KY8410"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"137 (VA)","id":"THES49876"},"free":"","case":"29","shelf":"8","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Tile","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Iran","id":"x30220"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1673","earliest":"1673-01-01","latest":"1673-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"The deceased died in December 1672 or January 1673"}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"36.7","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"24","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"ای مادر فرخنده نداری خبر از من \r\nاز گردش افلاک چه آمد بسر من\r\nمن تازه گلی بودم اندر چمن باغ\r\nنشکفته فرو ریخت همه بال پر من\r\nوفات المرحوم المبرور خوند اقا ابن رایس مرتظا\r\nتاریخ رمضان المبارک سنه ۱۰۸۳","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"O happy mother, you have no news of me,\r\nOf what has happened to me because of fate's actions!\r\nI was a fresh flower in the garden's lawn.\nBefore I came into full bloom, all my petals were scattered to the ground.\n\r\nThe death of the late Khwand Aqa son of Rayis Murtaza <occurred> in the blessed <month> of Ramadan in the year 1083.\n\n","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Ramadan 1083 is equivalent to the period 21 December 1672 to 19 January 1673.\n\nKhwand Aqa is more likely a woman's name than a man's, and it seems possible that the word \"son\" was written in error for \"daughter\" in the inscription.
