In its introduction, 71p, he states: 'Of the many readily recognizable decorations characteristic of the manufactory, the <i>bersò a merlo d'oro</i>, with its views of Italian gardens, remains one of the most successful.' There are two examples of items with this decoration in the Lokar collection, nos. 42 and 43. In the entry for no. 42, a plate, he states: 'The decoration described as '<i>a bersò</i>', includes figures mingling under the porticoes and pergolas of Venetian villas. Such scenes were usually taken from poetical compositions and frontispieces dedicated to noble Venetian women (see Pettoello 2005, p. 645).
