It was originally part of a fine service decorated with Italian views and a distincive border of blue and gilded cornflowers. The ceramics historian Angela-Caròla Perrotti has identified it in the factory records as the service acquired by the new King of Naples, Joseph Bonaparte, for his royal palace of Caserta in 1807.","physicalDescription":"Plate of soft-paste porcelain painted with enamels with a view of the lighthouse at Naples.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Naples Royal Porcelain Factory","id":"A28504"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"x33306"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"soft paste porcelain","id":"AAT10665"}],"techniques":[{"text":"painted","id":"AAT54216"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Soft-paste porcelain painted with enamels","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"},{"text":"Porcelain","id":"THES48907"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2010EC4177"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"139 (VA)","id":"THES49874"},"free":"","case":"24","shelf":"1","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Plate","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Naples","id":"x32548"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1792-1795","earliest":"1787-01-01","latest":"1796-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"C.1731-1919","id":"O278525"},"association":"Set"},{"object":{"text":"C.1730-1919","id":"O334186"},"association":""}],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by Mr John George Joicey","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Diameter","value":"31.8","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"'N' under a crown","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"In underglaze blue"},{"content":"'4'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Incised"},{"content":"'Strada che Conduce [al] Molo'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":""}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Plate of soft-paste porcelain, Naples Royal Porcelain Factory, Naples, ca. 1792-1795.","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"D’Agliano, Andreina (editor). Porcellane Italiane dalla Collezione Lokar Italian Porcelain in the Lokar Collection. For another plate from this service dated c. 1792-1795, see catalogue entry 121, 249p by Angela Caròla-Perrotti. \n'The plate belongs to the service known as the Fleur-de-lys service made in 1792-1795...It is probable that the service, made at the same time as the Servizio dell'Oca, also decorated with views of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, can be identified with the service 'a vedute fiori e oro' (with views, flowers and gold) chosen by Giuseppe Bonaparte (1768-1844) in 1807 for the Palace at Caserta. The decoration accords perfectly with the enthusiasm for views at the time. The Royal Factory encouraged by Venuti and the court, included views in its iconographic repertoire in evocation of places visited, with the aim of assisting travellers in documenting their exploration of the archaeological sights.'"}],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"lighthouse","id":"AAT7741"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"Plate\r\nPorcelain\r\nMark: 'N' under a crown, in underglaze blue and\r\n'4', incised\r\nInscribed: \"Strada che Conduce (al) Molo\"\r\nITALY (NAPLES); about 1790-1798\r\nJ.G.
