To each stand is attached by a string a celluloid ball coloured blue, yellow, green or pink; various ribbons are tied to the stands.  Placed into the centre of two opposing slats is a small metal support to take a curved metal arm.  These arms meet at the top and are joined by rings of green wood from which is suspended a length of string with a green wooden ball and ring of card at one end.  This is called the bomb'.  Also on the board at one side is a slat of wood with a bar of metal attached.  In the centre of the board is a circular indentation lined with metal.  Here is where the top is spun.  The top has a plain metal upright with a knob at the top and the body is flat metal painted blue.\n\nThe balls are placed on the stands, the top is spun.  The bomb' is allowed to knock against the top which sends the bomb' to dislodge the balls from the stands.\n\nThe game folds to allow storage in the box and the arms come out of their supports.  There is a card divider for use when storing the game","briefDescription":"Peall's Bombardo Pool; English, ca. 1920","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"made by disabled soldiers and sailors at the lord roberts memorial workshops","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["MISC.238-1981"],"accessionNumberNum":"238","accessionNumberPrefix":"MISC","accessionYear":1981,"otherNumbers":[{"type":{"text":"patent number","id":"THES51558"},"number":"FR409721 (A)"},{"type":{"text":"patent number","id":"THES51558"},"number":"US971470 (A)"},{"type":{"text":"patent number","id":"THES51558"},"number":"GB190914518 (A)"},{"type":{"text":"patent number","id":"THES51558"},"number":"1451809"},{"type":{"text":"patent number","id":"THES51558"},"number":"14,518"}],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-04-02","recordCreationDate":"2000-03-05","availableToBook":false}}
