Fine mid-blue silk warp with a coarser pale yellow rayon weft forming a broken twill ground. The design consists of a band of flames which begins at the right hand selvedge and extends into the left hand half of the piece. The body of the flame band is mid-blue which gives way to red brown then dark peach 'leaping' flames. These devices are rather loosely brocaded.
