He is invoked as a saviour against natural disaster and physical torment.  Amoghapasa is seen in his eight-armed form (his most distinctive attributes being the trident (trisula) and noose (pasa), being worshipped by the goddess Brkuti to his left and by the green Tara to his right.  Lesser deities pay homage below and emanations appear above.  The bodhisattva is enthroned on a magnificent platform with an elaborate arched torana as backdrop.  The scenes in the border register illustrate forms of torment to which mortals may be subjected, as listed in the Saddharmapundarika-sutra, a Mahayanist text mich revered in Nepal.  these scenes may be taken to represent the evils against which Amoghapasa is invoked.","briefDescription":"Gouache on cotton, Nepal, 15th century","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Skelton, Robert.
