She is holding a stringed instrument, like a zither, on her lap which she plucks with her left hand. Her three-quarter profile shows a left ear with a large hooped earring. She wears a necklace arm bands and six bangles on her wrists. She is sitting with her legs akimbo and her feet crossed and obscured by the folds of the light-weight garment she wears on the lower part of her body. Her hair is drawn back from her face into a large netted snood or padded wreath carved with criss-crossed lines, behind which falls a long folded scarf that reaches to the ground on either side. On either side of her head there is a background of leaves and what appears to be a fruit carved with lines to create a diaper pattern on the left hand side. The woman is seated on a rounded stool decorated with a diaper pattern containing quatrefoil motifs. The carving is pierced through at four points on the inner sides of her arms and between her calves and her scarf","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"schist","id":"AAT11626"}],"techniques":[{"text":"carving","id":"AAT53149"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Schist","categories":[{"text":"Sculpture","id":"THES48896"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SSEA","id":"THES48598"},"images":["2018KX0534","2018KY3836","2006AT8560"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"47A (VA)","id":"THES49797"},"free":"","case":"CA008","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Figure","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Gandhara","id":"x32655"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"5th century-6th century","earliest":"0400-01-01","latest":"0600-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Maj.
