Her left arm is missing below the elbow, making it difficult to identify the deity iconographically. It is likely that this hand once held a lotus flower, denoting a form of the Buddhist saviour goddess Tārā. The softly modelled abdomen and the halo, which is formed of a thick patterned band surrounded by flame-like motifs, identify the sculpture with Central Java, where it was likely made around the 9th century.
