The waistband and lining are are of deep pink plain weave cotton, softer and more closely woven than the pink fabric on the other garments in the set. The trousers are left open at the back and crotch. The hem of each leg is edged with three bands of trimming: two warp-patterned silk ribbons, one mauve, one blue; and a wider bias-cut trim of undecorated black plain weave cotton. They were made for the vendor by wealthy elderly Chinese ladies living next door to her parents in Jinan, and presented to them in December 1915. The clothes never worn but treasured by vendor's mother.
