Reference, as seen in much of his previous work, is also made to the faceting seen on many Korean Li Dynasty ceramics, also the source for his long-standing use of kohiki slip / glaze. Most recently Yoshida has been using black burnished earthenware rather than kohiki stoneware for this type of work. He has also stopped giving his pieces mouths. In departing from producing vessels with clearly defined tops and bottoms, he has made a radical step into a more purely sculptural exploration of faceted forms.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Flask, stoneware with clear glaze over cream slip, made by Yoshida Yoshihiko (1936-), Japan, 1989","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Yoshida Yoshihiko Sakuhinshu V Tokyo, Gallery Hana (c/o Bingoya, 1989), plate no. 60."}],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["FE.32-1989"],"accessionNumberNum":"32","accessionNumberPrefix":"FE","accessionYear":1989,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-11","recordCreationDate":"2000-02-12","availableToBook":false}}
