Réveillon was one of the most important retailers and manufacturers of wallpaper in France in the second half of the 18th century.\r\n\r\nThe complete rolls are illustrated in P. Gusman, <i>Panneaux Decoratifs et Tentures Murales du XVIIIe siècle</i> (1913), pls 9-11. A complete set of these papers, consisting of ten panels, exists at the house of General Lafayette at Chavagnac, Haute-Loire (see M. L. le Verrier, 'Old Wall-paper of France', <i>Antiques</i> (1928), vol 13, p 128, where they are wrongly attributed and described as hand-painted).
