The garment is of the usual kimono construction and has the addition of extra material either side of the front opening. There is a short overcollar of cream plain weave cotton. The sleeves are open all the way up at the wrist side and there is an oversewn stitch a third of the way down the edge of each sleeve. At the body side the sleeves are left open until they join the main garment body. The main garment body is lined with cream plain weave silk and the sleeves are lined with the same decorated silk as is used for the outside.\r\nThe background silk is a self-patterned crêpe having a key-fret motif aligned diagonally across the surface. This design is produced by contrasting the warp and the weft faces of a 2/1 twill. Printed on this is a repeating pattern of clouds, bamboo and plum blossoms.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"silk (textile)","id":"AAT243428"},{"text":"crêpe","id":"AAT183741"}],"techniques":[{"text":"weaving","id":"AAT53642"},{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Woven silk crêpe with a printed repeating design","categories":[{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"},{"text":"Womenswear","id":"THES49044"},{"text":"Underwear","id":"THES48880"}],"styles":[{"text":"Showa","id":"AAT18568"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"EAS","id":"THES48596"},"images":["2006AN1383","2019LL5563","2019LL5564"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"016","id":"THES311786"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Kimono","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Japan","id":"x29399"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1940 - 1949","earliest":"1940-01-01","latest":"1949-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"FE.11-1987","id":"O23377"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"FE.12-1987","id":"O23378"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"FE.13-1987","id":"O23379"},"association":"Object"},{"object":{"text":"FE.15-1987","id":"O23381"},"association":"Object"}],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"4","unit":"in","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"4","unit":"in","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Purchased.
