Trained at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna, she was a pupil of Professor Josef Hoffmann, and still believes in the chief maxims of this famous teacher – “contemporary design for a modern world” and “we should learn from our predecessors, but not copy them.” While still at Art School, Mea Angerer had several designs reproduced by the Wiener Werkstatte – that workshop of exclusive modern decoration with an international reputation, which unhappily ceased to exist some years ago. She also sold designs to France, Germany, Switzerland and the United States.\r\nMea Angerer came to England in 1928 to work with Messrs. Eton Rural Fabrics, on whose staff she was for eighteen months. Except for a short break, while she was working with an advertising agency, she has been a free-lance designer ever since. Although interested in other branches of designing for interior decoration and reproduction, textile designing has always held the favourite place among her occupations."}],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["E.1765-1980"],"accessionNumberNum":"1765","accessionNumberPrefix":"E","accessionYear":1980,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-05-02","recordCreationDate":"2009-05-19","availableToBook":false}}
