Vilmos Zsolnay took it over from his brother in 1865, at first producing everyday ware in traditional styles.  However, his display at the Paris 1878 Exhibition shows that he then widened his scope to include artistic wares in Moorish, Japanese, Persian and Hungarian styles. The Jury praised the quality, variety and technical innovation of Zsolnay's display, noting that he employed only 80 workers.
