The body is coarse, and the decoration is divided into three sections. The top section is decorated with lotus petals underneath which a curving, scaly dragon can be seen. Lotus flowers feature in the lower section. This vase dates from the early part of the Choson dynasty (1392-1910) and is classified as a <i>punch'ong</i> ware which were made during the 15th and 16th centuries. The term is a contraction of the modern Korean term - <i>punjang hoech'ong sagi</i> - meaning 'green, powder-like dressing on a grey vessel'. They are stonewares, often decorated with white slip. Inlaid, incised and carved designs were particularly popular, but spontaneous, free-spirited motifs painted with brown iron oxide were also made.","physicalDescription":"The outline is S-shaped.
