Surmounting the cover is a hunting scene  consisting of two dogs attacking a stag. The remainder  of the cover is covered in delicate ornate acanthus  decoration, with hunting knives and spears. The bowl is shown with two rectangular cartouches containing coats  of arms. The cartouches have laurel frames and are  surrounded by garlands of fruit and nuts, flowers,  birds and a squirrel. The upper part of the stem is in  the form of a Gothic cloak clasp filled with acanthus  decoration, suspended from which are two quivers of  arrows.
