But in the 1750s Henry Delamain hoped to make a success of his new pottery at Dublin. Despite his revolutionary technique of firing with coal instead of wood, the pottery survived only seven years. It left behind rare, delicately painted tablewares.","physicalDescription":"A landscape with figures, trees and buildings. The border has four similar groups of leaf fronds and swags.  On the back of the flange is the number 3. All the decoration is in manganese-purple.\nBody colour: Buff.\nGlaze: Pinkish white, very uneven with pools and dribbles and areas unglazed on the back.\nShape: Shape J with deeper more vertical well and a flat, much wider flange. Flat back without foot-rim.
