It was made by Eliseo Fattorini (1830-1887) for the Arundel Society, established in 1848, to record and promote the work of the Old Masters. The society made a speciality of reproducing in particular the Italian fresco cycles, of which the present work is a fine example. E.279-1995 shows a combination of scenes representing the will and death of the prophet Moses Signorelli originally executed on the left wall of the Sistine chapel.
