Probably Syria, 17th century.\" (Arthur Millner, <i>Damascus Tiles</i>, Munich 2015, fig. 6.148)\r\n\r\nThe description in Millner is not correct, as the figure is clearly wearing a female headdress, and she is more likely <i>serving</i>the wine rather than drinking it. The re-attribution to Damascus, on the other hand, may well be correct, but in that case the date needs scrutiny. Could it be a 19th-century fake, made because tiles with figures from 17th-century Isfahan were fetching good prices?
