Working in London during the 1930s with her husband, the avant-garde artist and designer Edward McKnight Kauffer, Dorn was the best known carpet designer in Britain. She led the field in developing high quality carpets, emulating the French luxury market but with new Modern designs. \r\n\r\nHer trademark style was the cream-on-cream carpet with a geometric relief in the weave, as used in Syrie Maugham's famous all-white room of 1933.
