An Independent Weekly of the Dél-Dunántúl Region","type":"generic title"},{"title":"Pro-democracy Poster Collection","type":"named collection"}],"summaryDescription":"The emergence of new newspapers, magazines and journals was an important part of the struggle for democracy in Hungary. The publication of the weekly paper ‘A Helyzet’(The Situation) was part of this process. Péter Pócs originally designed this image to advertise the film ‘Diary for my Children’ directed by Márta Mészáros. The director did not accept the poster which was then bought by ‘A Helyzet’. Although the client changed, the content of the art work remained the same. Both the film and the paper aimed to reveal the truth behind the surface and to reassess old ideas, ideologies and myths. The head depicted in the poster recalls the style of Soviet socialist realism and identifies communism as the subject of the criticism.","physicalDescription":"Poster","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Pócs, Péter","id":"A7880"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Situation","id":"A25762"},"association":{"text":"client","id":"AAT25833"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"printing ink","id":"AAT187371"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Colour offset lithograph printed on paper","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Propaganda","id":"THES48902"},{"text":"Politics","id":"THES48908"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2009CA2019"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC (VA)","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"MB2E","shelf":"DR109","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"poster","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Hungary","id":"x28910"},"association":{"text":"designed and printed","id":"x37573"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1989","earliest":"1989-01-01","latest":"1989-12-31"},"association":{"text":"designed and printed","id":"x37573"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Mücsarnok, Budapest, through Krisztina Jerger","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"99.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"68.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Poster by Peter Pocs from the Pro-democracy Poster Collection.
