This poster was disseminated during his official campaign for the presidential elections on behalf of the FSN (Romanian Salvation Front). He competed in this campaign with the candidate of the National Peasants'-Christian Democrat Party (PNT-CD), Ion Ratiu, and the candidate of The National Liberal Party, Radu Câmpeanu. Ion Iliescu was president of Romania from 1990-1996 and 2000-2004. Placed beneath the text 'We trust him' is an image of the new political leader whose attributes contrast with those of the former communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. The rose appearing at the bottom of the poster accompanied by the text 'The rose blooms in May', is the political symbol of the FSN (May was the month of the elections).
