This poster was disseminated during his official campaign for the presidential elections on behalf of the FSN (Romanian Salvation Front). He competed in this campaign against the candidate of the National Peasants'-Christian Democrat Party (PNT-CD), Ion Ratiu and the candidate of The National Liberal Party, Radu Câmpeanu. Ion Iliescu was president of Romania from 1990-1996 and again from 2000- 2004. The headline of the poster 'A president for our tranquillity' is juxtaposed with an image of a new political leader whose attributes contrasted with those of the former communist dictator.
