As we see in this example, the symbol of the future was often a happy child that appealed to the emotions of the viewer. \r\n\r\nThe technique of photomontage has a long tradition in the history of modern art. In the interwar period several avant-garde artists in Hungary cherished sympathies with socialist or communist political movements. Photomontage offered them an ideal technique for social criticism in posters, illustrations, book covers and autonomous artworks. During the elections in Hungary between 1945 and 1947, designers working for the communist and social democratic parties turned to the use of photomontage. Bea Farkas’ combination of the child and the protecting hands (another common motif in poster art) belongs to this tradition.","physicalDescription":"Poster","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Farkas","id":"A29131"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"printing ink","id":"AAT187371"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Colour offset lithograph printed on paper","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Printed pages & sheets","id":"THES48904"},{"text":"Politics","id":"THES48908"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2009CA2306"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC (VA)","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"Y","shelf":"78","box":"E"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"poster","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Hungary","id":"x28910"},"association":{"text":"designed and printed","id":"x37573"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1990","earliest":"1990-01-01","latest":"1990-12-31"},"association":{"text":"designed and printed","id":"x37573"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"40","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"28","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Poster, Hungary.
