It was rehearsed in Rome in 1916 but never produced. The theme inspired Goncharova to paint a great number of pictures in the Spanish style. A similar design for this project is reproduced in N. Goncharova, M. Larionov, P. Vorms, <i>Les Ballets russes. Serge de Diaghilew et le décoration théâtrale</i> (Bevés, 1955).
