It is part of a service consitsing of forty five pieces which includes two sizes of cups, two sizes of saucers, plates, sugar bowl, milk jug and slop-basin.\r\n\r\nThe form of this teapot is known as the 'London-shape' and was produced by most contemporary manufacturers. The teapot in every New hall service had a stand, which could catch drips as well as protecting the table from heat. Very few of these stands survive in comparison to the survival of the teapots.","physicalDescription":"Teapot, cover and stand, bone china, teapot has slip-cast body and spout and press-moulded hnadle; painted with enamels and gilded. The decoration consists of bunches of flowers on a white ground within leaf-shaped panels reserved on a deep blue ground covered with gilt scroll work.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"New Hall porcelain factory","id":"A9185"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"x40240"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"bone china","id":"AAT233473"}],"techniques":[{"text":"slip-casting","id":"AAT53907"},{"text":"gilding","id":"AAT53789"},{"text":"painting","id":"x30598"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"bone china, slipcast, painted and gilded","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2009CC4619","2009CC7150"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"143","id":"THES49867"},"free":"","case":"2","shelf":"1","box":""},{"current":{"text":"143","id":"THES49867"},"free":"","case":"2","shelf":"1","box":""},{"current":{"text":"143","id":"THES49867"},"free":"","case":"2","shelf":"1","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"teapot","id":"AAT43022"}],[{"text":"cover","id":"AAT246275"}],[{"text":"teapot stand","id":"AAT221252"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Hanley","id":"x32079"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca.1825","earliest":"1820-01-01","latest":"1829-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by the late Miss Jane Hinuas","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"15.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"teapot","note":""},{"dimension":"Length","value":"25.4","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"teapot","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"15.9","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"stand","note":""},{"dimension":"Length","value":"19.1","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"stand","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"conversion from registers","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"2384","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"pattern number painted in black to base of teapot"},{"content":"2384","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"pattern number in red to base of stand"}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Teapot, cover and stand, bone china, painted and gilded, New Hall, about 1825.","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Saye Hutton, A. de., <u>A Guide to New Hall Porcelain Patterns</u>, (London: Barrie & Jenkins, 1990), p. 56."},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Berthoud, M., <u>An Anthology of British Teapots</u> (1985), Nos 1537-41"}],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"flowers","id":"x35571"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["C.73-1928","C.73A-1928","C.73B-1928"],"accessionNumberNum":"73","accessionNumberPrefix":"C","accessionYear":1928,"otherNumbers":[{"type":{"text":"Pattern number","id":"THES50639"},"number":"2384"}],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2024-08-14","recordCreationDate":"2009-02-05","availableToBook":false}}
