The elections took place between the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 and the reunification of East and West Germany.\r\n\r\nAlliance 90 came together for the People’s Chamber elections. It consisted of different groups emerging out of the Citizen's Movement. These were: 'Neues Forum' ('New Forum'), 'Initiative für Frieden und Menschenrechte ('Initiative for Peace and Human Rights') and 'Demokratie Jetzt' ('Democracy Now'). Later on the Bündnis 90 became a political party. On 14th May 1993 it aligned with the party 'Die Grünen' ('The Greens) to become 'Bündnis 90/Die Grünen' ('Alliance 90/The Greens').\r\n\r\nThe Alliance did not do well at the elections of the People's Chamber, although it had been representatives from these groups who managed to provide the moral and intellectual basis for the 'Wende' ('turnaround), often by overcoming state repressions. They were the negotiators at the 'round tables' and provided the basis which led to overthrow of the GDR-system and ultimately the GDR itself.\r\n\r\nAlliance 90 could therefore run the campaign using the names of personalities whose political aims and message were well known. This poster depicts an image of the candidate Prof. Dr. Jens Reich who was New Forum's leading election candidate and one of the original signatories of the New Forum declaration. There was, nevertheless, no great trust in Alliance 90 to manage the desired reunification because the groups within the Alliance were initially formed to reform the GDR, rather than join West Germany.","physicalDescription":"Poster","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"printing ink","id":"AAT187371"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Colour offset lithograph on paper","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Printed pages & sheets","id":"THES48904"},{"text":"Politics","id":"THES48908"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2009CA2095"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC (VA)","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"MB2E","shelf":"DR109","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"poster","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Germany","id":"x28873"},"association":{"text":"designed and printed","id":"x37573"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1990","earliest":"1990-01-01","latest":"1990-12-31"},"association":{"text":"designed and printed","id":"x37573"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"81","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"57.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Eine Demokratie braucht mündige Bürger","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":""},{"content":"Bürger für Bürger","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":""},{"content":"Entscheiden Sie sich am 18.
