Some of his earliest appearances were at Hoxton Hall, probably in the 1860s.\r\n\r\nThis music sheet was for the satirical song Perverted Proverbs or Tupperny Philosphy that satirised the book Proverbial Philosphy by Martin Tupper (1810-1889) that contained moralising aphorisms such as: 'Well-timed silence hath more eloquence than speech'. The book was first published in 1837, went through forty large editions by 1867 and nearly a million copies in the United States.","physicalDescription":"Chromolithograph song sheet cover entitled Perverted Proverbs, written, composed and sung by Fred Albert.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Spalding, William","id":"A26648"},"association":{"text":"lithographers","id":"AAT25175"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Packer, Thomas","id":"A26713"},"association":{"text":"lithographer","id":"AAT25175"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Edwin Ashdown","id":"A27085"},"association":{"text":"publishers","id":"AAT25574"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"}],"techniques":[{"text":"chromolithograph","id":"x44031"},{"text":"print-making","id":"AAT131119"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Chromolithograph, print","categories":[{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"},{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&P","id":"THES48602"},"images":["2009CR8044"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES356585"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"prints","id":"AAT41273"}],[{"text":"chromolithographs","id":"AAT41384"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"london","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"19th century","earliest":"1800-01-01","latest":"1900-12-31"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"S.828-2013","id":"O1275262"},"association":""},{"object":{"text":"S.2608-2013","id":"O1274752"},"association":""},{"object":{"text":"S.146:571-2007","id":"O236129"},"association":""}],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"33.9","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"Print size","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"22.9","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"Print size","note":""},{"dimension":"Height","value":"43","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"Total including mount","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"32.7","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"Total including mount","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Music sheet cover for Perverted Proverbs or Tupperny Philosophy, written, composed and sung by Fred Albert (1845-1886).
