It was made at the Vezzi porcelain factory in Venice. \r\nVezzi porcelain often bears a strong resemblance to porcelain made at the Meissen manufactory in Germany. This is not surprising as the factory was set up using expertise developed at Meissen and smuggled out in secret. In the early days even the clay used to make the porcelain was obtained illicitly from Meissen. The distinctly Germanic style of the decoration used on this beaker would suggest the enameller may have worked at the Meissen factory or was inspired by a German engraved source print.","physicalDescription":"Tall beaker of hard-paste porcelain, painted in red enamel with a continuous landscape depicting two rustic men in the foreground, one playing the bagpipes seated under a tree, a small dog at his feet, the other standing nearby leaning on his staff, and in the distance a farmstead, and inside the rim, a formal band of florets, also in red.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Vezzi porcelain factory","id":"A24339"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"x33306"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"hard paste porcelain","id":"AAT10663"}],"techniques":[{"text":"painted","id":"x30138"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Hard-paste porcelain painted in red enamel","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"},{"text":"Porcelain","id":"THES48907"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2008BT3063","2017JX2850"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"145 (VA)","id":"THES49865"},"free":"","case":"23","shelf":"3","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"coffee cup","id":"AAT43216"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Venice","id":"x29237"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1720-1727","earliest":"1715-01-01","latest":"1727-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"'A / Ven: / .P.'","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"on the base"}],"objectHistory":"Formerly in the collection of Sir W.
