The first London production, starring Jodie Comer in her West End debut, won Olivier Awards for Best New Play and Best Actress in 2022. The production transferred to Broadway in 2023, where Comer won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. The production returned for a UK and Ireland tour in 2026. \n\nThe play follows barrister for the Crown Prosecution Service, Tessa, who specialises in defending alleged perpetrators in sexual assault cases. When Tessa is sexually assaulted by a colleague, she questions the adequacy of a male-established justice system that fails her and other victims.\n\nAfter the pivotal scene, Comer had just one minute, 40 seconds to change out of her wet costume (S.519-2026), compose herself and prepare for the next scene, set 782 days later. Stage manager Georgia Bird created an anti-congestion aid of eucalyptus seeds and black pepper wrapped in fabric, stored in a container marked ‘…And Breathe’.
