During World War Il, it was evacuated and returned to the museum in 1947.","physicalDescription":"A four-pointed cypress cross in a silver frame with a handle. The front side features a carved composition titled Crucifixion with Attendants. Angels are depicted on the left and right, while evangelists are depicted at the top and bottom. The reverse side depicts the scene of the Baptism of Jesus, along with waist-length images of four saints. The compositions are presented against the backdrop of a stylised architectural landscape, rendered using the through-carving technique. Both sides of the cross are covered with a polymer film. The rims of the silver frame are decorated with a ribbon of floral ornamentation, rendered in low-relief embossing, while the side walls of the frame are smooth. The ends of the cross are decorated with cast openwork finials vyith coral beads, and the centre of the cross features three-bladed sprigs topped with pearls. There are small decorative projections at the corners and intersections of the frame. The sides of the cross are engraved vyith a two-line inscription.
