The performances were sponsored by the Iranian National Folklore Society and the poster notes that this was the dancers' first appearance outside Iran. The season by Iranian dancers  presented two programmes in two weeks and dances from all over Iran had been researched and reconstructed ranging from dances from the courts of the Shahs to those by rural tribes but the programmes were not always well constructed. Peter Williams in a substantial article in <i>Dance and Dancers</i> discussing the Mahalli Dancers wrote, 'it cannot be stressed enough how vital strict discipline is to the success of companies like this, especially when shown outside their own territory. Robert de Warren and his wife Jacqueline have done a splendid excavation job in showing Persia that there is a rich hoard of dance wealth within their country.
