Their shared love of nightlife and raving had caused them both to experience tinnitus. When searching for an ear protection solution, they found no options that filtered noise while maintaining the sound quality of the music and were also comfortable and stylish. This prompted them to found Loop in an effort to find their own solution. \r\n\r\nLoop Experience are the first earplugs launched by Loop in 2016. They are a pair of reusable earplugs that filter sound using acoustic mesh and silicone tips, rather than the standard foam. Loop Experience are designed for use in loud environments, such as clubs, raves, bars, and concerts, shown here with the tagline ‘Live the Night.’ They provide an overall noise reduction of 17 decibels while filtering out intense low notes like bass and drums. Later models have increased filtering that targets high pitched sounds. \r\nLoop Experience come in a range of colours with the aim of becoming a fashion accessory. The founders hope that earplugs will come to be viewed as an addition to an outfit like a pair of sunglasses. The loop is not only the signature symbol of the brand and where they derive their name from but also helps the user put in the earplugs correctly. Each set comes with a small case to carry the plugs around. The soft silicone tip with the three size options makes the earplugs both easy to clean and comfortable for extended wear. \r\n\r\nLoop earplugs have additionally found a following in the neurodivergent community. Neurodivergent people often have increased auditory sensitivity, which can lead to sensory overload in loud environments. Loop earplugs’ noise filtering offers a layer of protection, allowing neurodivergent people to engage in social events without feeling the need to seek out quiet spaces. In addition, following COVID-19 and the resulting lockdowns, more people reported anxiety in noisy environments, leading to an uptake of Loop earplugs beyond the origin of live events.  \r\n\r\nSince 2016, Loop has expanded its range of earplugs to include Loop Dream for sleep, Loop Quiet for focus, Loop Engage for socialising, Loop Engage Kids for children, and Loop Switch for changeable levels of noise filtering, in addition to a second-generation version of the Loop Experience. They have also expanded their colourways, allowing consumers more choice to match their outfits or jewellery colours. The style of earplugs has found a place among young people, helping to reduce the risk of hearing damage, which the World Health Organization estimates over 1 billion are at risk of due to extended exposure at live events.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Loop","id":"AUTH410111"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"x33306"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"","categories":[{"text":"Accessories","id":"THES48998"},{"text":"Disability","id":"THES268732"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"DAD","id":"THES260586"},"images":["2026PL9481","2026PL9483","2026PL9479","2026PM1325","2026PM1324"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412780"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412780"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412780"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"005","id":"THES412780"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"earplugs","id":"AAT236326"}],[{"text":"earplugs","id":"AAT236326"}],[{"text":"pouches","id":"AAT194553"}],[{"text":"Packaging","id":"AAT55100"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Belgium","id":"x28742"},"association":{"text":"designed","id":"x29338"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2016","earliest":"2016-01-01","latest":"2016-12-31"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Loop","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Loop Experience, Live the Night, designed 2016","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"Mass produced","id":"THES48863"},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["CD.1:1-2026","CD.1:2-2026","CD.1:3-2026","CD.1:4-2026"],"accessionNumberNum":"1","accessionNumberPrefix":"CD","accessionYear":2026,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-08-24","recordCreationDate":"2025-10-09","availableToBook":false}}
