The upright design forms a complete circlet. The tiara is ingeniously constructed. It can be dismantled and reassembled as a choker or as two pairs of bracelets. This practical feature increased the versatility and value of such tiaras. Adaptivity is a common feature of tiaras, allowing them to be worn in different court or evening settings. \r\n \r\nThe tiara was given to Lady Adelaide (‘Delia’) Spencer (1889–1981) by her father, the 6th Earl Spencer, to mark her marriage to the Hon. Sidney Peel in 1914. She first wore it on her wedding day. The tiara continued to accompany her throughout her life at court.
