Henry John Lias went into partnership with James Wakely in 1879 for five years before retiring.  At this point Frank Clarke Wheeler, a former apprentice of Henry John Lias, became a partner.  Following Frank Clarke Wheeler's death in 1916, the company stayed in the hands of the Wakely family until acquired by Padgett &amp; Braham Ltd. in 1958.
