The jug mimicks tree bark with ivy and vines on the surface and handle. This design was first registered in 1847 and produced in white and lavender. \r\nSamuel Alcock's press-moulded jugs, produced at his pottery in Burslem, Staffordshire, are among the most distinctive examples of Victorian relief- moulded ware.
