Although Maës is given sole credit in the Museum's early records, his co-director by this date was Louis Clémandot. Founded in 1837 at Billancourt, Pont de Sèvres, the glassworks was moved to Clichy in 1839 and in 1885 was absorbed by the former glass factory at Sèvres, as the Cristalleries de Sèvres et Clichy.
