In 1983, Horse & Bamboo Artistic Director Bob Frith toured the Outer Hebridies to develop the show. The production was influenced by the Fèis movement, preserving Gaelic song, dance, drama and music traditions. <i>Seòl</i> means sail in Gaelic.\r\n\r\nThe tour lasted two months across 9 islands in 1984. <i>The Guardian</i> arts reporter Robin Thornber and photographer Denis Thorpe were sent to cover the production. The images taken were published as a photo-feature.
