The style of decoration, combining a central reserved medallion and small cartouches painted in overglaze enamels, with a colour scheme known in the west as '<i>famille verte</i>', and a powder blue ground with gilded decoration, was particularly popular in Europe between the end of the 17th century and the early 18th century. \r\n \r\nExport porcelain of this type was used as tableware in the residences of aristocrats and wealthy people, as well as exhibited in the so-called 'porcelain rooms', where walls and niches were filled with large quantities of ceramics. One of the most important European collections of this type belonged to Augustus the Strong of Saxony (d. 1733), who owned over twenty thousand pieces.","physicalDescription":"Porcelain dish with a broad flat rim, painted in brown on the edge and decorated with a powdered-blue ground with white reserved panels painted in overglaze enamel colours in the <i>famille verte</i> palette.
