He is renowned for his combined use of recycled, industrial, colourful and precious materials which he transforms into thought-provoking art.\r\n \r\nThis necklace, titled ‘Brave 3’, was created with 100 steel gun triggers taken from dismantled weapons, courtesy of the Goods4Guns Anti-violence Coalition based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The triggers are mounted on stainless cord, with sterling silver and 18-carat gold. Bally expresses the importance of the gold trigger in this piece, saying:\r\n\r\n“It is meant as a highlight of the actual interface between a shooter and the tool that we call the gun. It is the sensitive point which initiates the action and thus I cast it in gold.” \r\n\r\nThe form of ‘Brave 3’ was inspired by indigenous American amulets and echoes their intention to protect the wearer from harm.\r\n\r\nThis potent, emotional and beautifully made piece is a fine example of how Bally continues to highlight social and political discourse through his work. It particularly speaks against the firearms culture in America, a subject close to the heart of Bally, whilst also prompting us to reflect on the devastating impact of unregulated gun violence across the world.\r\n","physicalDescription":"The necklace was created with 100 gun-triggers made from steel, courtesy of the Goods4Guns Anti-violence Coalition based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
