In 1937 she moved to London with her future husband and managed the hat department of Schiaparelli’s shop until its closure in 1939 upon the outbreak of World War II. Equipped with Schiaparelli’s client list, Mirman opened her own atelier during the war years and sold hats from her apartment in Paddington. As hats were not included in the government scheme rationing clothing, Mirman’s business flourished through the 1940s. Millinery remained a vital part of a fashionable wardrobe and in following decades Mirman collaborated not only with Christian Dior but also leading London designers including Norman Hartnell and Hardy Amies. Her designs were worn by the royal family, which led Mirman to be granted a Royal Warrant by Appointment to the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth II. \r\n","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Black velvet Simone Mirman hat.
