They were presented by John Leguizamo and cybercast on VH1.com. \n\nDavid Bowie was awarded 'The Online Pioneer of the Year Award' for his website Bowienet, which was also awarded 'Best Artist Site'. Bowienet, which had launched two years prior in 1998, had proved to be a revolutionary internet service provider, chatroom platform and subscription model.  He accepted the awards in person, and also performed renditions of 'Life on Mars?' and 'Wild is the Wind', accompanied by Mike Garson.\n\nThe awards were connected to <i>Yahoo! Internet Life </i>magazine, which was published from 1996- 2002. The awards were held from 1998 to 2002.
