A fan of her dark, surreal work, Bowie asked Sigismondi to design and direct  the music videos for two of his singles from his 1997 album <i>Earthling</i> ; 'Dead  Man Walking' and 'Little Wonder'.\r\n\r\nThe video for 'Little Wonder' follows an alien creature with shifting  resemblance to Bowie's old personas and played by Bowie himself,  wandering a nightmarish, surreal city. The alien interacts with mutant  characters and video sculptures made by the artist Tony Oursler. This is  intercut with footage of Bowie wearing this distinctive dark purple, jagged  costume. The video utilised time-lapse, top-motion and pixelation to create  jerky, unnatural effects.\r\n","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Framed photograph of a still from the music video for 'Little Wonder' by David Bowie, owned by David Bowie, ca. 1997","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[{"text":"Album: Earthling (1997)","id":"AUTH401618"}],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["LOAN:AMERICASFOUNDATION.2649-2024"],"accessionNumberNum":"2649","accessionNumberPrefix":"LOAN:AMERICASFOUNDATION","accessionYear":2024,"otherNumbers":[{"type":{"text":"David Bowie Archive Number","id":"THES394108"},"number":"1997.3017.0106"}],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-05-21","recordCreationDate":"2025-02-21","availableToBook":false}}
