Established in Venice in 1764 by Geminiano Cozzi, the Cozzi factory specialized in soft-paste porcelain, producing sculptural figurines and tableware adorned with floral designs and landscapes. Similarly, the Le Nove factory, founded by Pasquale Antonibon in 1762 near Bassano, created finely potted and modelled soft-paste and hard-paste porcelain. Both factories sourced kaolin from Mount Tretto, resulting in similarities in their porcelain’s composition, making it difficult to distinguish between the two.","physicalDescription":"Pedestal of porcelain, circular with applied swags","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Cozzi factory","id":"A12422"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"x33306"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Le Nove porcelain factory","id":"A20292"},"association":{"text":"manufacturer","id":"x33306"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"Porcelain","id":"AAT10662"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Porcelain","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2025PL1283","2025PL1284"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"004","id":"THES387741"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Italy","id":"x28927"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""},{"place":{"text":"Venice","id":"x29237"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""},{"place":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1790-1800","earliest":"1790-01-01","latest":"1800-12-31"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Gift of Robin Hildyard","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Diameter","value":"10.7","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Height","value":"5.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"The object bears a label indicating that it was on loan to the South Kensington Museum in 1862 from the collection of William Ewart Gladstone, former British Prime Minister.
