It was purchased from Schiaparelli (London). Removable sleeves (now lost) allowed the bride to also wear the gown as an evening dress. \r\n\r\nRosalinde probably altered the train herself. She ran a wholesale fashion house, Rosalinde Gilbert Ltd., and frequently designed 'double role dresses', which cleverly tranformed into different outfits without drastic alterations. Together with her husband Arthur, they amassed a renowned collection of decorative arts, now on loan to the V&A.","physicalDescription":"Silver-coloured dress, of embossed viscose lamé fabric with metallic thread, with removable sleeves (now lost), and altered train.
