Her work is characterised by the modernisation of the production of the Manjak textile, a West African cloth traditionally woven by men from Senegal, Guinea Bissau, and Cape Verde. Since the creation in 1992 of her own company, Aissa Dione Tissus, Dione’s textiles have incorporated both geometric shapes and weaving techniques from traditional Manjak cloth.
