The company’s use of this source instantly appealed to a Victorian society undergoing mass industrialisation and social change. Many were dissatisfied with these shifts, leading to a growing public demand for art and literature that reflected romantic notions of medieval fabled stories. \r\n\r\nCustomers had the choice of red, green, blue, yellow, orange as well as multi-coloured versions. The company added turquoise to the range in 1931, which quickly became the most successful version of the pattern. \r\n\r\nIn 2024, Wedgwood relaunched Florentine to celebrate 150 years of the pattern, adding ‘Salmon’ and ‘Fuchsia’ to the palette, as well as new shapes including vases and pet bowls. \r\n \r\nThis 'Florentine Verde' cup and saucer, is one of six colourways.\r\n","physicalDescription":"Teacup and saucer, bone china with transfer printed decoration in green and brown with black lining to the handle and rim.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Fiskars UK Limited","id":"AUTH376995"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"bone china","id":"AAT233473"}],"techniques":[{"text":"transfer printing","id":"AAT53922"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Bone china, transfer printing","categories":[{"text":"V&A Wedgwood Collection","id":"THES276060"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"WED","id":"THES270009"},"images":["2024NY6888"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"003","id":"THES383548"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"003","id":"THES383548"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Teacup","id":"AAT43226"}],[{"text":"Saucer","id":"AAT195535"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"No","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Barlaston","id":"x31989"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2024","earliest":"2024-01-01","latest":"2024-12-31"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Fiskars UK Limited","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"72","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"cup","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"108","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"cup with handle","note":""},{"dimension":"Diameter","value":"147","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"saucer","note":""},{"dimension":"Height","value":"78","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"whole","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"WEDGWOOD\r\n EST.
