Easy to miss among the grand monuments of the Archaeological Park, the architectural logic of this unassuming vav (stepwell) foregrounds the idea that form follows function, presenting a most efficient way to access the deep-water table. The plan of this stepwell is in the shape of a keyhole - a flight of stairs enters the circular well from the southern end, which later continues in a sinuous curve attached to the wall of the well, reaching the water below. The steps are made of trapezoid-cut stones and bricks, while the walls are made of exposed bricks.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Cast concrete model of stepwell Helical Vav, made by Nitin Barchha, Mumbai 2025","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[{"text":"Gujarat","id":"x29825"}],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["IS.25-2025"],"accessionNumberNum":"25","accessionNumberPrefix":"IS","accessionYear":2025,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":["2025PH3718"],"recordModificationDate":"2026-04-24","recordCreationDate":"2024-08-30","availableToBook":false}}
